The Binaytara Foundation is a leading provider of oncology continuing medical education to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. BTF organizes local, regional, and national oncology conferences across the United States. We are excited to announce this six-month, paid event logistics internship for individuals interested in pursuing a career in event management.

 

Education Requirements:

  • Must have graduated from an associate or bachelor’s degree program within the last two years.

 

Duration of Internship: 

Candidates must commit to a minimum of a six-month period not exceeding twelve months.

 

Internship Schedule:

Typical schedule is Mondays through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM. However, Interns may work on the weekends and work longer hours during conferences and other events.

 

Stipend:

  • Up to $2,000 per month in room & board stipend is provided
  • Event travel expenses are covered
  • Stipends are disbursed monthly. Stipends are not wages and are not proportionate to the hours worked. However, stipend payments may be subject to applicable income taxes. Interns should consult a tax professional regarding tax implications of the stipend payment.

 

Travel Requirement:

This internship requires travel to our conference/event sites across the United States, including overnight stays.

 

Transportation:

Must have a valid driver’s license, and a reliable vehicle with liability insurance coverage.

 

Physical Ability:

May be required to occasionally carry/lift/transport suitcases/bags/containers containing conference materials from/to the Binaytara Foundation office or another designated place to conferences sites. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required to load/off load those materials.

 

Qualifications:

For one to have a successful learning experience during this internshipone needs to be highly motivated, organized, focused, efficient, and pay attention to details.

 

Skills required:

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills required.
  • Typing skills without looking at keyboard is a must.
  • Must have a good command of Microsoft office suite, Google Drive, and other commonly used software.

 

GOALS:

  • To provide a practical environment for interns to learn, gain knowledge & develop skills in event planning and event management for healthcare conferences and non-profit fundraising events
  • To utilize interns’ skills and experience in supporting the organization’s existing and future projects.

 

 

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES & CHALLENGES:

 

During this internship, you will participate in the following challenges:

 

  • Fundraising challenge– raise a minimum of $500 from at least 10 donors to support the Binaytara Foundation’s projects.
  • Event Management challenge– Manage a minimum of two live medical conferences as a primary logistics contact.

Learning activities:

  • Collaborate with the mentors and other volunteers at the Binaytara Foundation to plan, execute, and evaluate continuing education activities across the United States
  • Assist in venue selection process by obtaining bids from potential venues, reviewing and making presentations to the team about the bids obtained, etc.
  • Assist with attendee registration management, create badges, maintain registration records.
  • Assist in logistics management for the event, collaborating with other team members to finalize setup, menu selection, and other requires activities pre-event.
  • Distribute flyers and posters to potential attendees by emailing them, faxing them as well as personally delivering them as directed by the mentor.
  • Support the fundraising team in organizing the annual gala or any other fundraising event of the organization.
  • Assist in recruiting & managing event volunteers.
  • Provide on-site event support, including technical support to the team.
  • Assist in solicitation of auction items for the annual gala.
