Position Title: Accounting and Operations Intern
Location: The Binaytara Foundation, Bellevue, WA
Duration: This is a 12-month (52-week) internship starting in January 2025. Candidates must be willing to commit for a full one year of the internship.
Hours: 36-40 hours per week (may require longer hours during peak times)
Reports To: Director of Finance & Operations
Time Off: Three Weeks of Paid Time Off (this includes nine observed holidays).
Travel Requirement: This position may require travel to our conference/event sites in WA state or outside WA state which may include overnight stays.
Position Overview:
The Accounting and Operations Intern at the Binaytara Foundation (BTF) will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit financial management and operational processes. This internship is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or students with a degree in Accounting (Bachelor’s or Master’s) to apply their knowledge in a mission-driven environment dedicated to improving cancer care and education.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Support
Understand (GAAP) and apply them to daily accounting practices. Post journal entries and maintain the general ledger, accruals, reclassification and other transactions.
Assist in recording daily financial transactions and maintaining accounting records.
Support the preparation of financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
Help process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.
Reconcile financial accounts, including bank statements and credit card transactions.
Assist in tracking grant and project-specific expenses for reporting purposes.
Operational Support
Contribute to office administration tasks, such as maintaining records and coordinating logistics.
Support human resources activities, including onboarding and maintaining employee documentation.
Collaborate on process improvements to enhance organizational efficiency.
Assist in preparing documentation for audits and compliance reporting.
Special Projects
Participate in projects that integrate accounting and operational functions to address organizational needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (completed).
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.

Pay: $41,200.00 per year
