The Binaytara Foundation has collaborated with the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC) Center for Global Health to help establish Bone Marrow Transplant Centers around the globe. As part of this collaboration, the Binaytara Foundation provides financial assistance to the UIC center for Global Health for various global bone marrow transplant center projects. Dr. Krishna Ghimire, hematology/oncology fellow at the University of Illinois visited Nepal in 2016 under this project.
The goal of this collaboration is to help establish Bone Marrow Transplant Centers in areas where the burden of sickle cell disease and blood cancer is very high, and where there are a lack of facilities or trained manpower to provide life-saving bone marrow transplant services. This project is part of BTF’s efforts in promoting cancer care in under-served communities.
