The Binaytara Foundation (BTF) has formed a resident abstract committee. This committee is responsible for planning and implementing the invitation criteria, selection process, and resident communications. The committee also disseminates information about opportunities to present abstracts at BTF meetings, and provides guidance to potential submitters about abstract policies and other requirements.
Dr. Arjun Gupta is one of the co-leaders of the committee. He attended medical school at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. He completed residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, Texas, where he is currently the Chief Resident for Quality, Patient Safety and High Value Care. Through 2018, he is serving as the inaugural Teaching Value in Healthcare Learning Network Fellow for Costs of Care, and the Resident Director for Scholarly Activity for the High Value Practice Academic Alliance. He will start a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins University in July 2018.
Dr. Dipesh Uprety is also the co-leader of the abstract committee. He is a hematology-medical oncology fellow at Gundersen Health System in Wisconsin. He attended medical school at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal. He did an internal medicine residency in Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania. During his residency, he was awarded numerous honors including, “Women’s Board 2015 Frobese Scholar Award for the Clinical Academic Excellence,” “2016 William H. Mahood Award for demonstrating Compassion and Professionalism in Patient Care,” and the “2016 Resident Research Award”. He is also a recipient of the 2015 American College of Physicians Resident Professionalism award. Dr. Uprety is a reviewer for major medical journals, including JAMA oncology and BMJ open.
